3 Upgrades to make your car unique

The car you drive can say as much or as little about you as you want. If you are looking to tell the world a little bit about yourself simply by driving a car there are a few things you can do.

One of the most recognizable ways to showcase your personality is a vanity license plate. One of my favorite plates was "VLADTHE" on a Chevrolet Impala. This person probably loves to have a good time and since they know at least a bit about history there is a chance they are also intelligent. Some one who could be fun to hang out and have a deep conversation with.

Since we a dealership in Tucson Arizona we often see scorching temperatures that can damage your dash and steering wheels. A steering wheel cover is a low cost option that will actually preserve the live of your interior and also can make your car truly "your car."

Another cool way to improve the look of your car and let people know about you are your wheels. Choosing the perfect wheels can vastly change the way people look at your car.

At O'Reilly Chevrolet we offer numerous parts and accessories that will make your car unique. You can do as little are as much as you want but anything you do we would love to see it. Check out our parts store and post your car's pictures on our Facebook when your done and let us know why you choose those upgrades.

Concepts - 2013 Chevrolet Malibu

Ever since the automotive troubles that the US giants have been through it's been a somewhat tenuous time wondering how they are going to remain competitive in a market where efficiency has been considered the king virtue. Japanese competitors in particular have shown that at least in regards to popular opinion getting the most miles out of your buck is how people buy. That's not to say that muscle cars shouldn't be appreciated (one need only look at a '76 Camaro RS if in doubt) but that in order to retain our roles as a leader in the world market for cars we've got to start listening. Fortunately, a concept car was revealed last year that will make that happen - the 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco.

First off, being aimed as an economy-class it's had the standard V6 being swapped out for a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, which although coupled to a battery system will do most of the work. What this means is that as opposed to underpowered hybrid cars this is more of a light electrification, meaning that you'll still be able to get many of the benefits of hybrid technology without having to sacrifice the horsepower - it still puts out 182-hp while getting 37 mpg highway.

Secondly, just look at those curves!  Being optimized in regards to aerodynamic-ism, it's a sleek number without being overly ostentatious. It's even had a few elements borrow from the Camaro, such as the rear fenders and tail lights. Also, looking at a view snapshots from the Chevy site () the interior definitely has something going on - it screams 21st century technology while still managing to maintain something organic.

All in all, I think this is a car with a lot of potential. Initial drive tests indicate a smooth ride with a comfy interior. I for one will be excited to see just how well this performs since it's a hybrid of a hybrid. Regardless, it still seems like it's going to be pure pleasure.

Cool Enough to Use Heated Seats in Your Chevy?

Cooler weather is finally arriving here in Tucson. Tucson is known for its extreme heat but each winter we occasionally see temperatures in the teens.  Last year Tucson recorded 56 days in the 30s or lower and we had 3 days under 19 degrees. While we don't get as cold as some places each winter, it is nice to know remote start and heated seats can help us warm up just a little bit quicker on those really cold days.

2011 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ with heated seats
I was a little surprised to find that the first vehicle with heated seats was actually a 1966 GM Cadillac. Now heated seats are an option on almost every GM and Chevrolet vehicle. Most Chevrolet's will have the heated seat option on the LTZ edition but sometimes it is available on LT models as well. If you enjoy being warmer in the winter it is definitely an option to look for.
